In this GP Headstart workshop, we break down the complexities of General Paper (GP) into its individual components, to help students understand the marking requirements and scoring criteria. 

Students will be introduced to the exam format and question types according to the latest 2025 GP syllabus. Over 2 days, we will equip students with the knowledge and skills to think and write critically, with adequate exposure to essays, application questions and comprehension responses. Comprehensive resources such as Model Essays and 'Exam-Grade Answers' will be given so students know what is expected of them in the Exams.

Introduction to General Paper (GP)

 

Students can expect to get an early understanding of the critical differences between Secondary English and General Paper. Through broad based exposure to different comprehension types and essay styles, including an array of model essays, students will get insights on the key difference in writing styles, thinking skills and answering techniques that are needed to excel in GP. 

 

Designed to get students interested in current affairs and develop the requisite critical thinking skills to critique the issues of the day, students can expect vigorous and thought-provoking discussions of modern day issues that are hotly debated around the world.

What is Covered:

Mastering Higher Order Language Skills ​​

Be prepared for WA 1 by getting an early insight into the key marking points and answering structures needed to excel in both Essay and Comprehension. 

​

Based on the latest 2025 GP Syllabus, students will get a head start on the latest changes, including the updated Application Question that is now based on three passages rather than two. Students will also have the opportunity to build a knowledge bank of current affairs that would help to think critically and write effectively in both the essay component as well as comprehension.
