The introduction should instantly grab the reader’s attention, making them eager to read on. Instead of revealing everything upfront, provide hints and clues about the story's direction while withholding key details.

How to Create Mystery:

• Use vivid descriptions to set the scene.

• Introduce an intriguing character or situation.

• Pose a question or hint at an unusual event.

Example: The street was eerily silent, except for the distant hoot of an owl. Jason’s heart pounded as he stepped closer to the abandoned house. Why was the front door slightly ajar?

2. PSLE English Composition: The Maze - An Insurmountable Problem

Every great story has a climax, a moment where the protagonist faces a seemingly unsolvable problem—just like being lost in a complex maze. This section should build tension and suspense, making the reader wonder how the character will overcome the obstacle.

How to Build the Maze:

• Create an intense situation with no obvious solution.

How to Create the Map:

• Ensure the solution is plausible.

• Show character growth or quick thinking.

Example: Jason took a deep breath, forcing himself to think. He remembered the small flashlight on his keychain. Flicking it on, he noticed footprints in the dust—leading towards what looked like a hidden exit! With trembling hands, he pushed the panel. To his relief, it creaked open, revealing a path outside.

4. PSLE English Composition: The Mirror - An Insightful Conclusion

A strong conclusion should reflect on the protagonist’s experience. What was the lesson learned? How will they behave differently in the future? This reflection helps tie up the story meaningfully and leaves a lasting impression.

How to Use the Mirror:

• Show emotional or intellectual growth.

• Express the protagonist’s thoughts and feelings.

• Relate the lesson learned to a broader theme.
